"Dhakai Bheeti" is an unique saree from undivided Bengal. Very popular in the early part of the century, today the Dhakai Bheeti (named from its place of origin, Dhaka) has completely disappeared from both the Bengals.
A double sided extra warp weave is the foremost beauty of this saree. Using this original concept we brought our own design elements to this revival saree, such as for example, in its "Anaras Paar” - the trellis of pineapple which was once a popular motif in sarees from Bengal.
Warp-patterned elements have been woven throughout the saree in textured handspun cotton with undyed silk design work in the body and border.
