Good and good
“I have always been in love with
Indian traditional art forms. It was this passion that led me to do what I am doing today” ….. Manas Ghorai.

Manas was born from the idea of revival designs of heritage craftsmanship in the modern era. We often say that marriage can be evolution of two souls, that is what we believe at Manas by marrying age old craft techniques to contemporary design which gives birth to beautiful pieces of wearable art that has a global appeal. Tradition is the fountainhead of creative juices that propel our excellence in craftsmanship.

MANAS is an entrepreneurial initiative developed by Manas Ghorai, currently working with ten adopted looms and in West Bengal. Manas Ghorai started with the vision of creating a sustainable ecosystem for weavers whom we call loom artists and crafts persons by bridging the gap of traditional craft in the consumer market. He strongly believes that art shouldn’t simply be an object for admiration but also a source for livelihood in India. We believe in driving scale and impact through models that create value for both our weavers and craftsperson and supporters.

Manas has made its presence felt both among patrons of jewellery and connoisseur of handmade textiles
OUR LOOM :

Bengal’s weaving skills are

legendary. Weavers create magic on the yarn, using no more than a paper drawing pinned under the warp threads. They weave on simple frame or pit looms and produce the most delicate embroidery on the looms.

OUR VISION :

Manas begin as a journey

which has found its home in the village-based, family-oriented traditions with members as masters of different skill sets bound by a passion for the fabric and jewellery that they create. This is the fabric that not only satisfies their creative spirit but puts food on the table, sends children to school and medicines for the ailing.

Our idea of sustainability lies in working with the community where we are privileged to be a part of this wondrous family; it shares its joys of creation, its travails, its aspirations and is committed to making the future better for these master loom artistes and jewelry artistes.

We began with a vision of supporting our heritage, cherishing modernity by encouraging its innovations through revival of traditional methods to ensure the prosperity of the community.
